Hexagonal wire fencing, commonly known as "chicken wire", is used for a number of temporary fencing purposes. Garden plots, compost piles and farm animal cages are all examples of the wire fencing's versatility. Because of its durability and light weight, it is the ideal choice for any short-term enclosure.
In the former article Installation of Hexagonal Wire Fence we have learned how to install a hexagonal wire fence. Today I will show you the tools for the fence. With a few household tools, it can be installed quickly and easily.
* Fence Posts
Hanging any length of wire mesh fencing requires a mounting surface. Because of how light wire mesh is, the fence posts need not be very large or thick. Posts of almost any size and wood type can be found at your local home improvement retailer.
* Staple Gun and Staples
Galvanized slice-cut staples, embedded with an electric staple gun, are typically used to secure the wire fencing to the posts. Choosing galvanized staples is important as they will resist rusting and corrosion. For secure attachment, choose a staple length between 1 and 2 inches.
* Wire Cutters
Once the length of fencing has been secured to the posts, the remaining wire mesh must be cut. A standard pair of wire cutters will cut fencing of most gauges, or thickness. If your fencing is of a greater gauge, you may need a more heavy-duty pair of wire cutters.
